Prevention Campaign
As part of a continuing effort to reduce fatalities, Florida has embarked on a number of campaigns to highlight the biggest causes of child fatalities in the state.
The Safe Sleep Campaign
This campaign encourages the public to donate new Pack 'N Plays (portable cribs) to designated locations, which will be distributed to needy families by local coalitions.
Water Safety Campaign
The state loses more children under the age of five to drowning than any other state in the nation. As we play in the summer sun, it is important to emphasize supervision and swim safety while spending time with friends and family around the pool.
High Temperatures and Hot Cars
In just 10 minutes, the temperature of a parked vehicle can rise 20 degrees. The crack of a window, even by inches, is no match to combat the rising heat. This heat can be deadly, especially for children because their body temperatures rise five times faster than adults.
